Many people don’t know much about this condition, despite it being so incredibly common.

So, just how many people suffer from this condition, anyway?

What is the incidence of endometriosis?

Studies suggest that up to 10% of cisgender women in the United States suffer from this condition. In other words, experts believe that up to 1 in 10 women in the country suffer from endometriosis. Of those women, 4 out of every 1000 will require hospitalization due to the disorder every year.

Other risk factors and health conditions can increase this prevalence rate. For example, some research estimates that up to half of infertile women have this condition. As high as that number is, some experts believe that up to 87% of women with long-term pelvic pain have endometriosis.
