My Experience with Happy Head
We’ll discuss how the program works, the science behind it and how it compares to other alternatives in the market later in this article but let’s get right into it and go over the results I’ve had while using Happy Head.
My Hairline Before Deciding to Try Happy Head

As you can see from the photos above, I was suffering from frontal hair loss primarily in the apex region of my temporal recess. It was especially bad on one side and this had been worsening for the last 3 or 4 years. In January of 2023, I decided to try one of the many at-home subscription solutions that I saw advertised via social media.
Why Happy Head?
I chose Happy Head mainly because I was most interested in trying minoxidil and they had the highest percentage option available (8% vs 5% from hims, roman, etc).
My Prescription
- Topical minoxidil 8% solution (prescription strength minoxidil)
- 0.01% retinoic acid
- 1% hydrocortisone
*They did not recommend Finasteride due to having breastfeeding children in my household.
My Regimen

- 50ml applied directly to the desired areas of my scalp twice per day (once after showering in the morning and once before going to bed).
- I used a 0.25mm dermaroller to perform microneedling once every 3 days.
Happy Head Before & After
Here are my before and after 4 months photos:

Progression Timeline

My Happy Head Review
Overall I’m very happy with the results I’ve seen from Happy Head Minoxidil. The sign up process was simple, the doctor I messaged with was very responsive and answered any questions/concerns that I had. The application process is simple, which makes it easy to establish consistent usage.
My daily routine with Happy Head is simple. I use 50ml of the solution on the parts of my scalp that need some extra attention. This happens twice a day, after my morning shower and before bedtime. To help the process along, I’ve also been using a 0.25mm dermaroller every three days.
So what happened after four months? I can confidently say that I’m seeing some impressive changes. My hair has started to grow back almost everywhere, and even the most stubborn patch is showing signs of improvement.
There’s a catch, though. Happy Head Minoxidil isn’t light on the wallet, especially when you compare it to other options like Hims or Roman. It’s done wonders for my hair, but the cost is definitely something to consider.
My plan for the future is to continue with Happy Head for a full year to see just how much of a difference it can make. With Minoxidil being something that you have to continue using to see After that, I’m considering switching to a less pricey option, possibly a 5% Minoxidil solution, to maintain the progress at a more affordable rate.
Overall, my experience with Happy Head Minoxidil has been positive. It’s helped bring my hair back in a big way. But it’s important to remember that while it’s a game-changer in the hair regrowth world, there are other, more affordable options out there. So consider this as my personal experience and make sure to weigh all factors before making a decision.
Six-Month Update: Day 180

As you can see from the photos below there has been even more improvement from day 126 to day 180. My hair is definitely thicker and pretty much all the way back to what it used to be apart from that stubborn front right area.
I am still seeing new baby hairs grown in that most stubborn patch that was at a far worse starting point than any other area of my hair. So, I do feel like there’s more improvement to come there to. Even if there isn’t though I’m very happy with the results from Happy Head Minoxidil and could live with the current state if this was as good as it gets.
My Plan Moving Forward
While I’m very happy with the results I’ve had from taking Happy Head, it is quite expensive ($59 per month) to just keep using forever. So my plan as of now is to use the 8% Happy Head minoxidil for 1 whole year, at which point I might switch to one of the cheaper, 5% minoxidil solutions offered by hims or roman.
These options seem to come in around the $15 per month range, which is far more sustainable to use in perpetuity. I will keep this review updated at regular intervals.
Would I Recommend Happy Head?
The ultimate concern for me when trying this product was ‘does it work?’ and in my experience the answer has been a resounding YES!
If you’re looking for a product to try to slow your hair loss and stimulate regrowth, Happy Head would be a great place to start.
*everyone’s experience may not match my own.
Things I Like:
- It works. Despite most research showing minoxidil is mainly used to slow hair loss rather than to regrow hair, I’ve still seen some undeniable hair growth from my minoxidil, retinoic acid, and hydrocortisone solution.
- It’s easy to use.
- The shipping is efficient – I’ve never run out before the next batch arrives.
- The signup process was very easy.
Things I Don’t Like:
- It does cause some redness/stinging at certain intervals (usually for 1 day every 5-7 days)
- It’s quite a bit more expensive than other options (hims minoxidil is only $15 per month vs Happy Head being $59). Granted hims is 5% vs the 8% present in HH but I do wonder if i’d see similar results with the hims solution.)
Understanding Hair Loss and Regrowth
The Science Behind Hair Loss
Hair loss or alopecia can occur in just the scalp or the entire body, and it can be temporary or permanent. While anyone can be prone to this, it’s fairly more common in men than in women.
Here are some of the most common factors contributing to hair loss
- Genetics
- Aging
- Health conditions (e.g., alopecia areata, autoimmune disorders, etc.)
- Medical treatments (e.g., for cancer)
- Improper hair care treatments
- Hormonal imbalances
- Scalp infections
- Poor diet
- Vitamin deficiencies
- Stress
Hair Regrowth Treatments
Fortunately, proper treatment can help reduce/prevent further hair loss and help regrow hair. A dermatologist examines the condition and prescribes appropriate treatment. Without proper treatment, you’re likely to continue to lose hair.
Some of the more common popular hair regrowth treatments include:
- Hair transplant surgery – This procedure involves removing hair from a part of the head that has hair and transplanting it to a bald spot. Sometimes a larger strip of skin containing multiple hair groupings is taken to promote hair growth.
- Better diet and lifestyle – Eating foods rich in biotin and other proteins can help promote hair growth and health.
- Various medications – OTC and prescription medications like minoxidil, finasteride, and oral dutasteride can be prescribed for hair loss.
The Solution: Happy Head Hair Regrowth
Medications like Happy Head offer an effective and convenient way of restoring hair growth and improving hair health, but how does it work?
What is Happy Head?
Happy Head is a hair loss solution company best known for offering proven-and-tested hair loss treatments using flexible concentrations of minoxidil, finasteride, and other effective ingredients. Each prescription’s concentration is based on a doctor’s recommendation depending on the condition of the person’s hair.
The active ingredients present in Happy Head include:
- Finasteride – Commonly prescribed for hair loss, finasteride is popularly used by men with receding hairlines and is safe to combine with minoxidil and other treatments.
- Dutasteride – Dutasteride helps increase the number of scalp hair as well as fills in balding areas of the scalp.
- Minoxidil – Minoxidil is a popular hair growth medication that increases the growth of new hair, especially in cases of hereditary hair loss.
- Retinoic acid – Studies show that retinoic acid when paired along with minoxidil, helped promote better hair growth among patients with male pattern baldness
- Hydrocortisone – Hydrocortisone is identical to human cortisol and has been shown to be measurable in scalp hair, preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth.
- Spironolactone – While spironolactone is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure, it also serves as a synthetic aldosterone receptor antagonist that stimulates hair growth and has been widely used by dermatologists to treat androgenetic alopecia.

Real User Happy Head Reviews
Here’s what some customers have to say about their experience with Happy Head. Most of their reviews have been overwhelmingly positive:
Customer Mark Ballard was about to give up on his hair growth treatments when he tried out Happy Head’s formula:
“I was about to pull the trigger and buy a different product until I noticed that this one had the highest concentration of Minoxidil and Finasteride on the market. I figured I’d go with that since I was heading for totally bald on top and I’m totally glad I did. I was expecting to have to wait six months for any kind of noticeable results, but I have visible results in only 7 weeks. I’m sure it’s because I’m religious and methodical with my routine and never miss a day. I’m trying to figure out how to post some pics here, but I am very very surprised at my quick results. Customer for life!” – Mark Ballard
After only using it for a short timeframe, Vincent has already seen optimal results!:
“I’ve only been using it for 3 months & I’ve seen incredible growth in my hairline! I make sure to use a 1.5 mm dermaroller when applying for better absorption of the topical finasteride. I can’t wait to see my transformation after 1 year of use! THANK YOU HAPPY HEAD!” – Vincent Ingoglia
Ryan has tried various hair regrowth solutions before, but none has worked as effective as Happy Head could:
“Finally something that is working for me. I have been experiencing gradual male pattern hair loss for about 10 years and am now in my early 50’s. I tried minoxidil / rogain foam, other topical solutions promising regeneration and hair growth, and various “laser” helmets, but none of them delivered any results. Perhaps they slowed the hair loss but that is all. I have been using Happy Head for about 6 months now and am taking monthly progress photos, and the results so far are great. I have very little hair shedding, there are new hairs growing in, and my hair feels thicker.” – Ryan
Greg didn’t exactly have a pleasant start with Happy Head, but he gave it a shot anyway and now he’s experiencing great results:
“This stuff works. I was pulling handfuls of hair out every morning while taking a shower and 3 months unsung this and zero shedding. I wrote a bad review last month due to them delaying my order but they responded and quickly got my order in the mail. This month it was early. But all I can say is my hair is growing back and it works. I am going to stop taking my Finestrate pills and see if this truly is the reason for my hair growth or at least stopping my hair loss” – Greg James
While David’s hair loss had reduced, the results in hair growth haven’t been speedy as we’ve seen with other customer experiences:
“It seems to me that my hair shedding has decreased, although, after six months of use, I’m not sure that I have experienced any new hair growth. What I appreciate most about the product is that when I have questions, I call and get answers.” – David Kamm
Comparing Happy Head To Other Hair Regrowth Solutions
Happy Head has the most flexible topical concentrations on the market, but some of its products may be more expensive than the rest. But before you consider switching products, take a look at how Happy Head fares compared to other hair regrowth products.

User Pierre tried both Happy Head and Hims and notes that he’s seen more noticeable results with the former, given its higher minoxidil content.
“I was using minoxidil from hims and I didn’t realize that it’s the 5% like over the counter version. I then tried this product and it it had 8% minoxidil. I don’t even have to take the oral finasteride because this has finasteride mixed in it. I’ve been using it for 8 months now and I’ve seen real improvement. Happy Head vs. Hair Transplants
Modern hair transplant procedures and techniques have evolved significantly, today’s procedures involve moving selected hair strips to the affected area to promote growth to make it look more natural. But while they are an effective, reliable, and safe way to yield lasting results, the procedures are considerably expensive and time-consuming.
Using non-invasive methods like using topical/oral treatments like Happy Head offer a more convenient, cost-efficient way to promote hair regrowth, and it can accommodate people whose hair loss problems are caused by factors like age, health conditions, and lifestyle problems.
