Ever heard of Happy Head before? It’s a men’s hair loss treatment solution that offers a better alternative to traditional finasteride pills you’d get from a traditional doctor, allowing you to see optimal results, but with fewer risks of side effects. So if you’re looking for a hair loss treatment, this could be the one for you.

To help you make an informed decision, we will break down the facts about this hair loss treatment by looking at how it works and its efficiency, how it compares to other topical finasteride brands, and what Happy Head reviews reveal about customer experiences along with our own personal experience with the product.

My Experience with Happy Head Minoxidil

We’ll discuss how the program works, the science behind it and how it compares to other alternatives in the market later in this article but let’s get right into it and go over the results I’ve had while using Happy Head.

My Hairline Before Deciding to Try Happy Head

As you can see from the photos above, I was suffering from frontal hair loss primarily in the apex region of my temporal recess. It was especially bad on one side and this had been worsening for the last 3 or 4 years. In January of 2023, I decided to try one of the many at-home subscription solutions that I saw advertised via social media.

Why Happy Head?

I chose Happy Head mainly because I was most interested in trying minoxidil and they had the highest percentage option available (8% vs 5% from hims, roman, etc).

My Prescription

  • Topical minoxidil 8% solution (prescription strength minoxidil)
  • 0.01% retinoic acid
  • 1% hydrocortisone

*They did not recommend Finasteride due to having breastfeeding children in my household.

My Regimen

Happy Head & Dermaroller
  • 50ml applied directly to the desired areas of my scalp twice per day (once after showering in the morning and once before going to bed).
  • I used a 0.25mm dermaroller to perform microneedling once every 3 days.

My Happy Head Review

Overall I’m very happy with the results I’ve seen from Happy Head Minoxidil. The sign up process was simple, the doctor I messaged with was very responsive and answered any questions/concerns that I had. The application process is simple, which makes it easy to establish consistent usage.

My daily routine with Happy Head is simple. I use 50ml of the solution on the parts of my scalp that need some extra attention. This happens twice a day, after my morning shower and before bedtime. To help the process along, I’ve also been using a 0.25mm dermaroller every three days.

So what happened after four months? I can confidently say that I’m seeing some impressive changes. My hair has started to grow back almost everywhere, and even the most stubborn patch is showing signs of improvement.

There’s a catch, though. Happy Head Minoxidil isn’t light on the wallet, especially when you compare it to other options like Hims or Roman. It’s done wonders for my hair, but the cost is definitely something to consider.

My plan for the future is to continue with Happy Head for a full year to see just how much of a difference it can make. With Minoxidil being something that you have to continue using to see After that, I’m considering switching to a less pricey option, possibly a 5% Minoxidil solution, to maintain the progress at a more affordable rate.

Overall, my experience with Happy Head Minoxidil has been positive. It’s helped bring my hair back in a big way. But it’s important to remember that while it’s a game-changer in the hair regrowth world, there are other, more affordable options out there. So consider this as my personal experience and make sure to weigh all factors before making a decision.

Six-Month Update: Day 180

As you can see from the photos below there has been even more improvement from day 126 to day 180. My hair is definitely thicker and pretty much all the way back to what it used to be apart from that stubborn front right area.

I am still seeing new baby hairs grown in that most stubborn patch that was at a far worse starting point than any other area of my hair. So, I do feel like there’s more improvement to come there to. Even if there isn’t though I’m very happy with the results from Happy Head Minoxidil and could live with the current state if this was as good as it gets.

My Plan Moving Forward

While I’m very happy with the results I’ve had from taking Happy Head, it is quite expensive ($59 per month) to just keep using forever. So my plan as of now is to use the 8% Happy Head minoxidil for 1 whole year, at which point I might switch to one of the cheaper, 5% minoxidil solutions offered by hims or roman.

These options seem to come in around the $15 per month range, which is far more sustainable to use in perpetuity. I will keep this review updated at regular intervals.

Would I Recommend Happy Head?

Yes.

The ultimate concern for me when trying this product was ‘does it work?’ and in my experience the answer has been a resounding YES!

If you’re looking for a product to try to slow your hair loss and stimulate regrowth, Happy Head would be a great place to start.

*everyone’s experience may not match my own.

Things I Like:

  1. It works. Despite most research showing minoxidil is mainly used to slow hair loss rather than to regrow hair, I’ve still seen some undeniable hair growth from my minoxidil, retinoic acid, and hydrocortisone solution.
  2. It’s easy to use.
  3. The shipping is efficient – I’ve never run out before the next batch arrives.
  4. The signup process was very easy.

Things I Don’t Like:

  1. It does cause some redness/stinging at certain intervals (usually for 1 day every 5-7 days). If you put it on at night and exercise in the morning, try to wash it out before you start. I found that sweating heavily with the solution applied caused excessive redness.
  2. It’s quite a bit more expensive than other options (hims minoxidil is only $15 per month vs Happy Head being $59). Granted hims is 5% vs the 8% present in HH but I do wonder if i’d see similar results with the hims solution.)

Comparing Happy Head To Other Hair Regrowth Solutions

Happy Head has the most flexible topical concentrations on the market, but some of its products may be more expensive than the rest. But before you consider switching products, take a look at how Happy Head fares compared to other hair regrowth products.

Customer Reviews: Happy Head vs Hims

User Pierre tried both Happy Head and Hims and notes that he’s seen more noticeable results with the former, given its higher minoxidil content.

“I was using minoxidil from hims and I didn’t realize that it’s the 5% like over the counter version. I then tried this product and it it had 8% minoxidil. I don’t even have to take the oral finasteride because this has finasteride mixed in it. I’ve been using it for 8 months now and I’ve seen real improvement. It’s not perfect but definitely better.”Pierre B

Happy Head vs. Hair Transplants

Modern hair transplant procedures and techniques have evolved significantly, today’s procedures involve moving selected hair strips to the affected area to promote growth to make it look more natural. But while they are an effective, reliable, and safe way to yield lasting results, the procedures are considerably expensive and time-consuming.

Using non-invasive methods like using topical/oral treatments like Happy Head offer a more convenient, cost-efficient way to promote hair regrowth, and it can accommodate people whose hair loss problems are caused by factors like age, health conditions, and lifestyle problems.

Making the Right Choice: Happy Head, Hims, or Keeps

All of the hair regrowth products show great promise in delivering results in effective hair regrowth. While Hims and Keeps are considerably cheaper, Happy Head’s is definitely worth it, despite its higher price, which is justified by its stellar feats – it offers a more effective and customized way to meet your hair problem needs and has higher concentrations of its active ingredients without the elevated risk of side effects, giving it a higher chance of efficacy.

Tips for Maximizing Hair Regrowth with Happy Head

While you’re using Happy Head, follow these tips to make the treatment more effective and easier to manage:

  • Diet changes – Eat foods rich in biotin, proteins, B vitamins, vitamins A, C, D, and E. iron, and zinc since they promote better hair and skin health. Examples of this include eggs, carrots, avocados, fatty fish, nuts, and seeds.
  • Proper hair care – Avoid heating, chemically treating, or bleaching your hair while on treatment. Opt for a mild shampoo suited for your hair type and use a softer hair brush made from natural fibers.
  • Track your progress – Remember to track your hair growth journey. Take photos of your hair on a daily or weekly basis to observe changes and jot down notes.
