Solabia- Algatech Nutrition’s AstaPure Arava has been shown to have a beneficial effect on the immune system and global well-being in a recent clinical study. According to the study, significant reductions in the stress hormone cortisol were observed, along with positive changes in the gut microbiome.

The Astaxanthin in AstaPure Arava is derived from Haematococcus Pluvialis. It contains all of the essential nutrients naturally found in microalgae and a minimally processed, unrefined natural astaxanthin source. 

This microalgae complex contains 3 percent astaxanthin, 50 percent polysaccharides and fibers, 28 percent lipids, 14 percent proteins, and trace minerals from the B-complex. H. Pluvialis possesses a wide variety of health-supporting compounds, including astaxanthin.

H. Pluvialis algae are the most concentrated natural source of astaxanthin, which is one of the most potent and bioavailable antioxidants. As an antioxidant, astaxanthin crosses the blood-brain and blood-retinal barriers, reaching cells throughout the body, including the retina, muscle, and skin. 

In addition, astaxanthin’s unique structure helps protect cells against internal and external oxidative stressors, contributing to their overall health and well-being.

In the current, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, scientists examined the consequences of the dietary supplementation of AstaPure Arava on upper-respiratory tract complaints (URTCs) and psychological mood states. The study was conducted on fit adult male and female recreational runners experienced in training and competing for half-marathon to marathon distances. 

Athletes and similarly active adults are excellent examples of how nutritional supplements can enhance immunity and reduce stress. Also, physical activity stresses the muscles, organs, brain, and mind.

For three weeks before and one week after a competitive marathon or half-marathon, subjects were given 8mg AstaPure Arava or a placebo. 

There were 32 subjects (16 males, 16 females) who completed the study and completed a psychological profile of mood state. This health log questionnaire assessed health status and URTCs and provided saliva and feces samples for cortisol and microbiome analysis.

There were significantly fewer upper-respiratory tract complaints in the AstaPure Arava group and a greater sense of well-being overall. 

For example, experts found that the number of upper-respiratory tract complaints symptoms reported by the supplement group was 78% lower than that of the placebo group, while the global mood state (i.e., “overall well-being”) improved by 14%.

When the supplement group finished treatment, cortisol, the primary stress hormone that affects mood and immunity, was reduced by 25% compared to the placebo group. 

However, there was no significant difference in the overall microbiome indices after the endurance run. As a result of supplementation, Streptococcus thermophilus levels were 72% higher in AstaPure Arava patients, indicating improved immune system function.

Excessive training includes suppressing immune system vigilance and making us more susceptible to respiratory tract infections. Chronic overload can also result in psychological stress and mood disorders.

Results of the Study

As a result of these findings, AstaPure Arava could improve the immune system’s understanding and overall well-being following stress.
