Individuals who take Topamax should discuss these risks with their doctor and avoid driving or doing other activities that may be dangerous while experiencing drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired cognition, such as problems with decision making or judgment.

Contraindications: For the extended release version of topiramate patients should not consume alcohol within 6 hours before and after taking the medication.
