Taking antibiotics like amoxicillin while drinking alcohol can produce negative side effects. People should therefore avoid drinking while completing their antibiotic course.

Side Effects

The side effects of antibiotics like amoxicillin and alcohol are quite similar and can be heightened when combined. In other words, drinking while on antibiotics can heighten the negative side effects of both. These symptoms include nausea, dizziness, and drowsiness.

While taking the two together can lead to an increase in side effects, there are no direct, dangerous reactions between the two.
