Metoprolol and alcohol interactions can occur.
Side Effects
Combining metoprolol and alcohol can cause side effects, particularly very low blood pressure, which can result in headache, lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate.
Interactions
Alcohol may add to the blood pressure-lowering effects of metoprolol, particularly at the beginning of treatment, following a dose increase, or restarting metoprolol after an interruption.
