Side Effects

Drinking alcohol while taking amlodipine may increase the medication’s side effects, such as headaches, sleepiness, and dizziness, especially while rising from a sitting or lying down position.

Alcohol may increase the antihypertensive (blood-pressure lowering) effects of amlodipine. Since alcohol may interact with other medications patients take, doctors advise anyone who drinks alcohol should do so in moderation.
