OverviewDosageSide EffectsInteractionsHalf-Life

Interactions between Stelara (ustekinumab) and alcohol do not occur. However, other interactions may occur if patients take Stelara with other medications, such as methotrexate [Otrexup (PF), Xatmep, Trexall].

Side Effects

Alcohol does not appear to affect ustekinumab, which is why there are no warnings against drinking while on this drug. However, interactions may occur if patients are also taking methotrexate. In such cases, alcohol can increase the chances of patients experiencing side effects of methotrexate or worsening existing side effects. One such serious side effect would be increasing the risk of liver damage.

Interactions

There do not appear to be any interactions between alcohol and Stelara. However, people taking ustekinumab may also take methotrexate at the same time. In these cases, patients should avoid drinking alcohol, as interactions can occur.
