Are you looking to smooth out those eye bags with under-eye filler? This procedure is becoming more and more popular in the beauty space. We collected before and after pictures of people who have had filler under their eyes to help you determine if the procedure is worth it.

What Are Under-Eye Fillers?

Under-eye fillers are non-surgical procedures done to lighten the tear trough or under-eye area to reduce under-eye shadows and give your eyes a fuller, brighter, and well-rested look. And the best part? — the procedure is surprisingly quick and easy!

Eye fillers are often recommended for people with dark under-eye hollows caused by genetics, aging, health conditions, and other lifestyle factors.

There are different types of eye fillers used:

  • Hyaluronic acid – Hyaluronic acid fillers are transparent, easy to smooth, and less likely to clump; hyaluronic acid fillers are the most common filler type used in the under-eye area. But while it’s said to provide the shortest result, some practitioners believe it provides the most natural look. This type of filler can last from 9 months up to a year.
  • Poly-L-lactic acid – This acid is a biocompatible, synthetic material that significantly promotes collagen production in the body and can last up to 2 years.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite – This filler is made from phosphate and calcium, and it can stimulate collagen production in the skin and helps support and sustain connective tissue, adding volume to the area. It can last up to 18 months.
  • Fat transfer –  Your doctor may recommend injecting body fat taken from the abdomen, hip, buttocks, or thighs if you have a deep tear trough in the lower lid and cheek areas. This option lasts the longest, which can stay up to 3 years

Other chemicals are sometimes mixed with the fillers to mitigate or control effects. For example, lidocaine, an anesthetic, is often an ingredient added to some types of hyaluronic fillers to cause less bruising and swelling after the injection,

How the procedure works:

Before undergoing the procedure, you’ll be having a pre-treatment consultation. You can discuss your situation with the physician and decide on the right solution or filler. Procedures may vary based on the type of filler that they will use. At this time, the doctor will also explain the procedure and recovery process.

The injection procedure then goes like this:

  1. The doctor will locate the injection area and apply cleansing fluid, as is customary with all injections.
  2. Then comes the injection. The doctor will inject the filler into the area through the needle.
  3. The doctor will smooth the filler into place.

For those who have a phobia of needles, some doctors apply a numbing cream to the area and let it absorb into the skin for a few minutes. Sometimes, the doctor may require one or more injections under each eye.

In general, the procedure should only last a matter of minutes.

Amanda Hagann had always struggled with her eyebags. Adequate sleep didn’t do much to lessen them, so she opted for an under-eye filler procedure.

The video shows her right before and right after the procedure. We can see that the bags have already visibly reduced even immediately following the injections.

Tiktok user Jillian Gottlieb shared her friend Lindsay’s under-eye filler journey. She says Lindsay’s always had dark, hollow under eyes since she was a kid.

Opting for a change, she decided to get an under-eye filler injection. Her doctor gave her a mid-face filler for an au naturale look (at her request). After 24 hours, we can already see that her under-eye areas look much brighter and refreshed than before

A look at her video shows some slight redness on one side after it had been injected, but it looks like it’s all been worth it as she’s enjoying spectacular results!

From another part of the world, Filipino influencer Glester Capuno shared how his under-eye filler procedure went out. After having insecurities about his under-eye bags, he decided to do something about it.

The session started with light facial cleaning before the injections. Glester says the injections were rather painless, although the video showed some light bleeding after. In the before and after part, we can see the lines under the eyes have subtly but visibly decreased.

Downsides

In most instances, the side effects from eye fillers will be minimal and short-lived. They can include:

  • Redness
  • Puffiness
  • Bruising
  • Bumps

To avoid such instances, choose an experienced, board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to perform your procedure. It’s also a must to follow the physician’s post-injection instructions is also important to avoid complications.

Pricing

Eye filler procedures are also relatively expensive, ranging from $800 to $3,000, though the prices vary from doctor to doctor and geographical location. Since it’s a cosmetic procedure, it’s not covered by healthcare plans, though some clinics may offer discount promos.

Takeaway

If you’re considering banking on your looks, getting an eye filler is a worthy investment. It can bring out the beauty of your eyes in the best way possible, effectively boosting your confidence in the long run.

No matter what type of filler you opt for, choosing a highly experienced practitioner should be your most important decision to make a good difference and yield optimal results.
